Nonsmooth H∞ synthesis
We develop nonsmooth optimization techniques to solve H∞ synthesis problems under additional structural constraints on the controller. Our approach avoids the use of Lyapunov variables and therefore leads to moderate size optimization programs even for very large systems. The proposed framework is very versatile and can accommodate a number of challenging design problems including static, fixed...
متن کاملSecond-order nonsmooth optimization for H ∞ synthesis
The standard way to compute H∞ feedback controllers uses algebraic Riccati equations and is therefore of limited applicability. Here we present a new approach to the H∞ output feedback control design problem, which is based on nonlinear and nonsmooth mathematical programming techniques. Our approach avoids the use of Lyapunov variables, and is therefore flexible in many practical situations.
متن کاملA Nonsmooth Optimization Approach to H∞ Synthesis
A numerical method for solving the H∞ synthesis problem is presented. The problem is posed as an unconstrained, nonsmooth, nonconvex minimization problem. The optimization variables consist solely of the entries of the output feedback matrix. No additional variables, such as Lyapunov variables, need to be introduced. The optimization procedure uses a line search mechanism where the descent dire...
متن کاملMultichannel Active Noise Control Systems and Aigorithms for Reduction of Broadband Noise
Active noise contral systems for braadband noise reduction require substantial computing power, especially for multichannel systems and adaptive controllers. Furthermore, speed of convergence can be an issue as weil. In this paper, methods and techniques are described that are able to reduce the computational complexity and to improve the speed of convergence. The latter is accomplished by usin...
متن کاملMixed H2/h∞ Control via Nonsmooth Optimization
We present a new approach to mixed H2/H∞ output feedback control synthesis. Our method uses non-smooth mathematical programming techniques to compute locally optimal H2/H∞-controllers, which may have a pre-defined structure. We prove global convergence of our method and present numerical tests to validate it numerically.
